Hi Max and Lena,

I remember you from my "volunteer year", 1997. You two stand out in my memories for your friendliness. I won't soon forget talking with Max in Nome by the chute, or being greeted at the Nome banquet by Lena. The welcome you gave this first-time volunteer was wonderful.

Have a safe trip in 1999. I'll see you again in 2000!

Max, I think you've done an excellent job with your site. Helps us to see more of what goes on behind the scenes leading up to the Great Race.

I first read about your '95 adventure in an inflight magazine while on a business trip from Sydney to Brisbane last February. I was so enthralled by your commitment and perseverance while facing hardship (I read it three times) that I reworked my presentation to incorporate it before we landed.

At Club level, we have also run the story in our magazine, Husky Howler.

All the best for a safe race.

I think the website is very good. It shares a lot of information for people that are interested in the iditarod dog sled race. I think the race is very cool and it's a good sport for people who live in Alaska to participate in, due to the extreme weather conditions. I am pretty invovled in the event, thanks to a teacher in 5th grade I had. I think websites like this is a good way to get the race out there to people that don't know too much about it. I've heard that people think the race is very cruel to animals and if people would actually look at the facts they would find out that it's not and websites like this one shows that it's not.

Mr. Hall, Your website has been very informative to my two boys who are 8 and 11, and are following the Iditarod for the first time since moving to AK from Phoenix Arizona. They have enjoyed learning all about Sled Dog Racing, and have found information on your website that answered some of their questions we were not able to find answers to anywhere else. My boys are very excited about following the race results after meeting you, and one of your handlers on Saturday March 6, at the Eagle River Checkpoint. Lenny was very professional and informative, and I wanted to say thank you to both of you for answering their questions and allowing them to "talk" to your dogs. They were especially excited about being introduced to Maggie, Banana and Jose. Ever since meeting you, they have been cheering you on, and watching the race results daily. We wish you the best of luck and are cheering for you all the way: especially Maggie, Jose and Banana.

Max...

My name is Dave Schmidt from Celina, Ohio...I would like your advice...is there a product line that sled dogs and other dogs might be able to benefit from? I work with a company that employs people with handicaps and disabilities and I am looking for an idea that we can use.

There presently is a small company that we work with that manufactures a dog bowl that keeps the water from freezing under cold conditions...I would like to develop something that we could work with them to also market both items. If you have any ideas or thoughts or know someone who is looking to expand I would be interested in hearing from you. I hope to be contacting other mushers as well. But going to best first only makes sense...I'm using my son's email address, my address is actually nccaa@bright.net.

Congrats on a great year...
